I did a search for “Ideas for Church Growth” a few minutes ago. The article itself still isn’t being returned, but it did return this Church Growth Consulting site on Page 2 in position number 16. Check it out:

When Google brings the article back it should be higher than this which is good news. I keep showing you these things so that you can begin to get the idea of what it takes to get your site noticed. I wrote 3 or 4 articles for Church Growth Consulting yesterday. As a reward for all the fresh content, my site got bumped up from position 10 on page 1 to position 7.

I am working to get this site up to the 1 position on this page. One of the advantages to having a blog instead of a traditional website is that the fresh content of the posts helps keep your site moving in the search results. All of the sites ahead of me at the moment are traditional websites except for 1 of them which has a blog that puts up fresh content 2 or 3 times a month. The sites ahead of me also have a lot of links pointed at them which is how they are ending up so high on the search returns. For this site to continue its way upward I will need to keep writing fresh content (which is easy because I like the subject matter and I have a lot to say) and I need to get more links. I eventually want this site to be found not only by Church Growth Consulting, but also by just Church Growth. I’ll keep writing, you keep reading.

I wanted to give you an update on the article we wrote on Church Growth Consulting called Ideas for Church Growth. The article showed up on search results for a couple of days and then disappeared. That is not unusual. Google often holds new article and new sites out of the search results for a while. It sort of showed up on a MSN search. Check out what I mean:

MSN returned a result of 14 on page 2, but the result is an article about the article, not the actual article. As with everything on the Internet, this will take a little time. I pointed 2 links from another site at the article today. Now we will wait and watch.

I thought I would give you an update on the keyword experiment we are doing with an article I wrote called “Ideas for Church Growth“. The article is two days old now. I did a search for it a little while ago on Google. It is now returning a result of 14 on page 2.

Pretty good. So far I have only 2 links pointing at the site. One link is coming from the first article I wrote in this series called “Using Keywords to Get Your Site Noticed – Part 1“. The other link is coming from the sidebar. I will point a link from this article and see what happens. If the article moves one way or the other I will let you know!

P.S. If you didn’t read the article on keywords on My Newbie Blog go and read it now. It will help you understand the process.

I searched this morning for “Florida Keys Churches” and found the article from 2 days ago still on page 1 at position 7. At that time google still hadn’t found the Florida Keys Churches Site. At 4:15 PM I did a search for Florida Keys Churches. Guess what?

There is it is position 5. It happened quicker than I thought it would. I checked out how it got there

The site has no page rank, and no links that are listed. It is there just because of the keyword “Florida Keys Churches”. Obviously, if this was a very competitive keyword it would take longer to get there. I still need to get this site up to that top position to accomplish what I set out to do. I also want the site to rank for some similar searches. I want to come up on top for searches like Big Pine Key Churches, Key Largo Churches, Islamorada Churches, Marathon Churches, and Key West Churches. This will take some work. I will begin the process by tidying up the Florida Keys Churches site. I will also continue to find some sites to link to my site and begin writing some articles about Florida Keys Churches and getting them published on the Internet. This should help move the site toward the top spot on the page. I will keep checking the site location on all of these searches and then lay the groundwork to help move the site along. I hope you are enjoying Church Growth | Software and Consulting!
